Hace unos días, Oxford Fashion Studio presentó a 10 diseñadores en los estudios de Pier 59 con lleno total. Las colecciones iban desde ropa de mujer tradicional hasta ropa unisex, joyas y accesorios, incluso una colección plus size como para deslumbrar en la alfombra roja. Realmente ofrece algo para todos para cada ocasión.
El objetivo de este grupo es resaltar a los diseñadores independientes de todo el mundo, dándoles una plataforma para mostrar su trabajo. Oxford Fashion Studio ha trabajado con cerca de 700 diseñadores, de más de 70 países diferentes, en los últimos 10 años. NA YEONG BAEK
La colección titulada “Untamed” se inspiró en la cultura Myanmar y sus cerámicas onduladas y distorsionadas que la gente usa de utensilios que no son necesariamente típicos. La colección con sede en Corea del Sur tenía como objetivo mostrar la belleza de lo viejo y lo olvidado y cómo encontrar un nuevo arte a través de la imaginación. Desde lanas y tejidos de punto podemos ver ondas de color beige, negro, blanco y tonalidades de mostaza en formas imaginativas.
MANISHII
La marca ready to wear con sede en India debutó con su colección “Pre Occupied”. La colección entrelazó versatilidad, desde preciosas telas indias bordadas a mano hasta puffers de cuero vegano con mezclas de tul, sedas en tonos negro, blanco sólido, amarillo canario y plata.
MATT SARAFA
La alumna junior de Project Runway y diseñadora de Los Ángeles tiró la casa por la ventana con una explosión de diamantes de imitación, pieles y mallas en una colección completamente que fue todo menos aburrida. Celebridades como Tyra Banks, Iggy Azalea, Doja Cat, Lisa Raye y Brenda Song también han sido vestidas por esta diseñadora sin complejos. “Soy un libro nuevo listo para ser escrito”, dice ella.
SAMANTHA DARRYANTO
Anak – Ku fue el nombre de la colección mostrada por la diseñadora de Nueva York Samantha Darryanto, modernizando la ropa tradicional de China e Indonesia y fusionándolas. Tejidos como el batik y las sedas chinas se vieron en toda la colección combinados con siluetas de trajes a medida.
MAYAN THE LABEL
La firma originaria de Arabia Saudita mostró una colección que fusiona la moda árabe tradicional con un toque contemporáneo. “Faded” reintrodujo ropa modesta con un aspecto elevado de alta costura. Abrigos y vestidos adornados desfilaron por la pasarela. La colección era tradicional por arte, textura y cultura. Tonos nude y menta se mezclaron perfectamente con rojos profundos en sedas lujosas, gasas y organzas.
RENE´ TYLER
La colección Noir Et Blanc estuvo inspirado en el estilo parisino, elegancia e inclusividad. Looks glamurosos celebrando las curvas de las mujeres dominó la pasarela con la colección de esta firma con sede en Las Vegas. Sus piezas también han sido usadas por celebridades incluyendo a Laverne Cox, Dulcé Sloan, Mary Lambert y Marsha Ambrosius.
POLI & JO
Poli & Jo nació en el East End de Londres, Spitalfileds (el comienzo del nerviosismo y la creatividad). La marca representa la herencia británica con un toque moderno. La colección de accesorios, titulada “Defender City” presentaba un lienzo verde militar con detalles de ribete naranja brillante en contraste.
NADINE BY NADIA
La marca de joyería de San Diego presentó su colección inspirada en los días vanguardistas de la ciudad de Nueva York en los años 70 y 80. El sello distintivo de la diseñadora Nadia radica en sus intricados diseños con púas, titanio y cuero. Las piezas adornaban la pasarela en cuero genuino con puntas, detalles tachonados y flecos de cuero. Estas genialidades incluyeron pulseras geométricas, envolturas de cabello distintas y collares innovadores.
MVR
MVR es una marca mexicana cuyo trabajo artesanal se refleja en sus prendas. La colección “Waitomo” se centró en el lugar utópico llamado Waitomo Glowworm Cave ubicado en Nueva Zelanda donde, a través de la investigación y experimentación textil, nuevas texturas tomadas de la naturaleza están representadas y creadas simulando la evolución de millones de años a través del trabajo artesanal en la ropa. La inspiración también se extrae de la cultura hip hop en los tonos pasteles fusionados de los años 80: verde, azul, rosa y morado.
CHRISTI + YOU
La colección titulada “Superpower” abarca la moda vanguardista y segura para las prendas de uso diario para mujer. La diseñadora se inspiró en trajes comunes de lana, devolviéndoles la vida con un aspecto deconstruido.

Oxford Fashion Studio Brings 10 Global Designers to NYFW at Pier 59
On Friday evening, Oxford Fashion Studio presented 10 designers at Pier 59 Studios to a full house. The collections ranged from traditional womenswear and gender neutral apparel to jewelry and accessories, and a red-carpet ready plus size collection, offering truly something for everyone and every occasion.
The goal for the fashion group is to highlight independent fashion designers from all over the world, giving them a platform to showcase their work. Oxford Fashion Studio has worked with nearly 700 designers, from over 70 different countries, over the past 10 years. This year, the designers showcased their work to a full-house on the NYFW runway. The South Korea based collection aimed to showcase the beauty in the old and forgotten, and how to find new artistry through imagination. From wools and knits we can see ripples of beige, black, whites and hues of mustard in imaginative forms.

The India-based, ready to wear label Manishii debuted their upcoming collection “Pre Occupied.” The collection was interwoven in versatility from gorgeous Indian handwoven embroidered fabrics to vegan leather puffers using mixes of tulles, silks in hues of black, off-white, canary yellow and silver.

Project Runway Junior alumni and Los Angeles designer brought down the house down with an explosion of rhinestones, furs, and mesh in an all black collection that was anything but boring. Celebs such as Tyra Banks, Iggy Azalea, Doja Cat, LisaRaye, Brenda Song have also been dressed by the unapologetic designer. I'm a new Text block ready for your content.

Anak-ku was the name of the collection shown by the NYC designer Samantha Darryanto, modernizing traditional clothing from both China and Indonesia and fusing them both. Fabrics such as batik and chinese silks were seen throughout the collection paired with tailored suits silhouettes.
MAYAN THE LABEL
The Saudia Arabia native showcased a collection merging traditional Arabic fashion with a contemporary flare. Mayan’s collection, “Faded” reintroduced modest wear with a couture elevated look. Embellished coats and dresses sauntered down the runway. The collection was traditional by art, texture and culture. Shades of nudes and mint blended perfectly with deep reds in luxurious silks, chiffons and organza.

Poli & Jo was born out of the East End of London, Spitalfileds – the birth seed of edginess and creativity. The brand represents British heritage with a modern edge. The accessory collection, titled, Defender City featured army green canvas with contrasting bright orange piping details.
NADINE BY NADIA
San Diego jewelry label, NadinebyNadia presented her edgy collection of baubles inspired by New York City’s avante-garde days in the 70s and 80s. Designer Nadia's hallmark lies in her intricate designs using spikes, titanium, and leather. Pieces graced the runway in genuine leather with spikes, studded accents and leather fringe. Showstoppers included geometric cuff bracelets, distinct hair wraps, and innovative necklaces.
MVR
MVR is a Mexican-based brand whose artisanal work is reflected in their street garments. The collection “Waitomo” was focused around the utopian place called Waitomo Glowworm Cave located in New Zealand; where, through textile research and experimentation, new textures taken from nature are represented and created simulating the evolution of millions of years through handmade work on clothes. Inspiration is also drawn from hip hop culture during the 80s fused pastels tones of green, blue, pink and purple.
CHRISTY + YOU
The collection titled “Superpower” encompassed edgy and confident fashion to everyday womens wear pieces. The designer drew inspiration from common wool suits, breathing life back into them with a deconstructed look.
